The Zebra Woman and Other Confusing Photos That Prove You Shouldn’t Always Trust Your Eyes

The Cat in the Window

If this were a movie, it would be a retelling of Amy Adam’s experiences in the 2021 mystery thriller film ” The Woman in the Window,” but from a feline perspective. That means this kitty would have to play the role of an agoraphobic cat who witnesses something dastardly while spying on its neighbors.

Something about the horrified gaze in the cat’s eyes tells us it would play the role to perfection. What have you seen, Kitty? What do you know?

Is it a Conjoined Horse?

The domestication of horses has to be one of man’s greatest achievements. Because once that was out of the way, it allowed us to use them for sport, transportation, agriculture, and even in war.

But the storied history of horses doesn’t just end there. It appears there’s been a change in its evolution, and somehow two-headed horses are now being bred. It’s either that or our eyes are being deceptive. Let’s hope you have a better go at figuring this out.

Beer or Towel

To have two football heavyweights in one photo is no small feat. While Arjen Robben is now retired, David Alaba has remained active on the field. And last we heard, he’d even signed a contract with Real Madrid, the former’s old team.

With that out of the way, it’s nearly impossible to believe that this photo was taken just as Alaba poured a glass of beer on Robben. Because it sure looks like the latter threw a towel over his head!

Stand Strong

Superheroes are real, and “Marvel” and “D.C” have been trying to tell us the truth for decades. This is just a photo of a skydiver taken at a dizzying height.

When this photo first surfaced on the internet, it was even tagged “Giant occupying the city,” which makes sense considering the individual appears to be standing on the bridge. But instead of trying to figure out if the photo is real or not, why not just enjoy the view?

Hey Man, Cute Shorts

Liev Schreiber is an American actor known for films like “The Omen,” “Pawn Sacrifice,” and “The French Dispatch.” So he’s a big deal in Hollywood. Of course, anyone who’s seen him on the screen can attest to the fact that this isn’t what he looks like.

Which means something strange is afoot. This time, we’ll burst the bubble a bit sooner. Schreiber only happened to be wearing a shirt a couple of shades similar to the woman. Those aren’t his denim shorts.

Dogman

Dog lovers assemble. This furry creature appears to be the Keeshond, a breed whose closest relatives are the German spitzes. Its two-toned coat of silver and black gives it a distinguished look, and whoever owns it must get a lot of attention on the streets.

But we can’t catch a glimpse of the lucky owner in this photo because the dog takes center stage. And if we didn’t know better, we’d believe it was a dog-human hybrid sitting on the train.

Sitting so Nicely!

Dogs sitting in trains are looking to be a common theme on this list, and we don’t mind at all. And this isn’t an attempt to dredge up age-old rivalry with cat lovers and persons who prefer other pets. It’s just that dogs are so lovable!

In this case, the lucky canine sat right next to a woman in a pink shirt. And clearly, the person behind the camera thought it was funny how both bodies—canine and human—merged to create a hybrid.

Reality vs. Cartoon

At the risk of sounding like a millennial, or worse, does anyone remember the American animated TV show “Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids?” It ran from ’72 to ’85 and was the highlight of many lazy Saturday mornings.

The 2004 movie version of the show features a portal in the cartoon world that causes the animated characters to come to life. And these 2D bags look like the sort of accessories you’d find in animations, not the real world!

Snacks or Sloths?

What do a chocolate-filled snack and one of the slowest creatures on earth have in common? Nothing on paper, but this photo brings up a few similarities. For anyone who’s wondering, these tasty-looking treats are pain au chocolat.

They’re just like the French croissant except filled with chocolate. And something about these reminds us of sloths laying low in their natural habitat—if their habitat happened to be plastic packaging instead of the tropical rain forests of Central and South America.

Benjamin Button

“The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” is a 2008 fantasy movie that tells the tale of a man who was born old and slowly aged backward until he died a baby. While initially confusing, it turned out to be quite a fun watch.

And if we needed a real-life representation of the movie’s plot, this would be it. Somehow a man and boy have become one, and we don’t know whose torso can lay claim to the head and bucket hat.

What a Tiny Head!

Still on the topic of heads, here’s another interesting case. If two-headed horses and dog-humans can be a thing, then normal-sized animals with shrunken heads can be too. We only wish we had proof that this was real.

Wouldn’t that make for an interesting conversation? It should take a few seconds for the brain to catch up to the fact that a small puppy is standing right in front of the big dog. They could be related for all we know.

Concert or Field of Cotton?

The wonders of nature are intensely compelling, and this photo provides a good example. At first glance, it looks like an outdoor concert with hundreds of attendees and bright stage lights. However, the first clue ought to be the absence of a stage and a performing band.

That’s how we know this isn’t a concert but a field of cotton captured at night. And all those bright lights are from the harvester. Kudos to anyone who figured this one out!

What’s That on Your Shoulder?

The fresh air and scent of the sea are just two of several reasons that a trip to the beach rocks. Not only does it help improve one’s overall well-being, but it also promotes a good night’s sleep at the end of the day.

This fellow took our advice to heart. He also caught a fish before assuring us he had no plans to eat the poor thing. But everyone was more concerned with the person walking in the background!

Cool Doggo

We’ve seen our fair share of canines using the bodies of their owners as camouflage. But this is something different. Dogs being the social creatures they are, it’s easy to see why this one was so comfortable sitting in this restaurant.

And though we can’t catch a glimpse of a human counterpart, we have to assume that its owner was also present. If not, who’s to thank for coming up with the amusing idea to put sunglasses on the dog?

Ready for Action

Each party may raise sensible points in the dog versus cats debate. But this is one hill we’re more than willing to die on—no indoor animal instills sheer unrestrained terror like cats. They’ve got the look to make a grown man sink to his knees and beg for mercy.

So do not be surprised at the look of this kitty. It’s only gearing up for a fight. And our money’s on it for sure. Just look at that clenched paw!

Female Centaur

Can we talk about centaurs without reminding everyone about the classic children’s book series and film adaptation, “The Chronicles of Narnia?” It was our first introduction to the mythical beasts that are part human and part horse.

And while the main centaur in that production was a guy, this woman also appears to play her part well. A female centaur is called a Centaurides. Thumbs up to the person behind the camera and a bigger shoutout to the dog for standing in the right spot to create this illusion.

Wait! Let Me Explain!

No, don’t scroll past in a fit of anger! First impressions can indeed be deceiving. The young girl happens to be sitting with an adult. So, said adult is the owner of the visible thigh. Just look at the chair and notice the tiny legs peeking out from under. Believe us now?

This is one situation where that old saying about only getting one chance to make a first impression holds water. We all make snap judgments within a few seconds.

Lim-cow-sine

Only some people know that cows have a natural life expectancy of about 20 years. And when compared to humans, they also have much better hearing, especially in the deep and high-frequency ranges. They also don’t need as much sleep as we do.

Looking at it from a particular perspective, cows seem to have it better than we do. But while all those facts about cows are true, this picture is not. No cow could be that long and stretchy.

Watchya Looking At?

We’ve all heard the saying that the walls have ears and never believed it. But in the Romanian city of Sibiu, residents and tourists alike have a better phrase—the roofs have eyes—and they’re pretty good at giving judgemental stares.

While it may be nice to admire this strange feat of architecture in a photograph, visiting the city must be quite the experience. The roofs either give the impression that the buildings never sleep and just enjoy staring at wandering humans.

That’s Not How We Say Hello

Fun fact about dogs—they have a specific manner of greeting. We’ve all seen it when two dogs meet at the park or on the street. They’ll loosen up their body, walk around each other, sniff noses and rear ends, then sniff the noses again.

It’s a cute little ritual with sniffing playing a significant role. But the dog in this photo seems to have skipped a few important steps. Not to worry, though, that’s not a probing paw, just a short tail.

Where’s Your Hand?

The holiday season means big business for bars. We’ve got more people leaving their homes to enjoy a good time with friends. And more often than not, a good time involves throwing back a couple of drinks and enjoying the general bar ambiance.

From the satisfied smiles on these patrons’ faces, the night must be going as planned. But what’s the man in plaid doing to the other fellows’ head. Blocking his view or caressing his bald head? Oh, wrong hand!

Stuck

Cats are much more than fluffy creatures with sharp claws. Rumor has it that they can jump up to six times their length. And while they may not have nine lives as we’ve been made to believe, they make up for that shortcoming by having peripheral vision and night vision much better than what humans have.

But just when the world finally accepted that cats don’t have super powers, this photo has done a good job of raising doubts!

What Long Arms You Have

There’s nothing as fascinating nor heartwarming as the bond between two girlfriends. In fact, a big part of growing up female is having someone around who can relate to unique experiences and share the ups and downs of this life with you.

So it’s lovely to see these two girls smiling brightly for a photo. But what’s that in the background? A man with stretchy arms? Sorry to burst that bubble, but that hand belongs to the girl on the left.

Thing, Is That You?!

‘Wednesday Addams’ is one fictional character who has endeared herself to several generations of people. And when 2022 rolled around with a new Netflix series dedicated to her, the fans went wild. They even created a TikTok dance in her honor, but that’s a story for another day.

What’s Wednesday without her trusty sidekick, the disembodied hand called ‘Thing?’ The pair always wreak havoc together. And this photo is very reminiscent of that iconic pair. Except this ‘Thing’ is missing its stitches.

Paperthin Driver

The world has seen four generations of the Ford Escape. And even though we can not say if this is the first or second generation, we do know it looks nothing like the sleek fourth-generation version that made its debut in 2019.

Being firm believers that only a competent driver can unleash the raw power of a good vehicle, we’re amused that this photo makes it seem like the woman on the store poster is the one behind the wheel.

What’s Wrong With Her Legs?

This girl looks like she’s had enough for the day and would like to go home soon, please. Children are such adorable creatures, so we can’t fault parents or guardians who whip out the camera on every outing to take a thousand snaps.

But going by her look, this girl has posed for too many photos already. She’d just like to be left alone to enjoy her popcorn. Oops! Did we spoil the surprise? Yes, that’s a bag of popcorn between her legs!

T-Rex Made Human

Even though dinosaurs went extinct millions of years before humans appeared on planet earth, we’ve done a good job of piecing together details from history to create a near-accurate depiction of what could have happened all those years ago.

This is how we know that the Tyrannosaurus rex is one of the most fearsome predators to walk the earth. But for such a massive creature, it sure had tiny arms. And it looks like ‘red tie’ guy has tiny arms too!

You Skipped Leg Day, Bro?

This has to be one of the simplest optical illusions to figure out, but we’ll extend the limits of our kindness and provide an explanation anyway. There’s the capable bartender mixing drinks for clients behind the bar. And his trusty colleague standing right beside him.

Then there’s the mirror below the counter, providing a clear view of the lower part of everyone who approaches the bar. Combine the slender legs of a customer with the larger torso of the bartender, and voila!

A Magic Trick

Welcome back to another episode of “cats have superpowers,” and we have proof. We’ve seen human acrobats perform spectacular feats with props like trampolines, flying trapezes, one-wheel cycles, and tightropes. And it’s fun to watch such performances.

But to see a tiny indoor feline attempt such a feat is something for the books. How on earth did the cat get its head through the cardboard box with both front paws providing guidance? Is this magic at work, or just Photoshop?

Stuck in the Middle

One of the best things about photos like this is that it’s almost impossible to figure out what’s happening. This could be anything from a group of friends at a funeral or former classmates posing for a photo at their high school reunion.

Whatever the occasion, it looks like this trio has enjoyed fulfilling lives. If only miss ma’am had chosen a dress with sleeves in a lighter color, we wouldn’t have to wonder whether or not the men are holding hands!

Smiley Face

For anyone who’s never seen a carburetor before, it’s okay to wonder why it looks so happy. After all, it is the mechanical component of engines that helps mix fuel and air to produce power.

And thanks to this role, it’s sometimes called the heart of automobile engines. Carburetors have been slowly phased out of cars since the late ’90s, but we still find them in generators and lawnmowers. Be sure to smile back if you ever happen upon one!

Up, up We Go

The world can never forget July 16, 1969, when Apollo II took off from Kennedy Space Center in Merritt Island, Florida. Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins were all aboard that craft.

Together they made history as the first humans to land on the moon. Everyone who watched their initial takeoff remembers the trail of gas they left in their wake. Quite similar to the long trail an airplane left as it flew above the roller coaster in this photo.

Zebra Woman

We promised a zebra woman, and our word is our bond! Centaurs may be part human, part horse, but what do we call a full-bodied zebra with a human torso attached? Whatever name that is, it’s the perfect descriptor for this scene.

Scott McCloud explained once that humans can perceive shapes and images out of a couple of dots and lines. It has something to do with our tendency to see patterns where there are none. And the term for that is pareidolia.

Riding a Mower

Lawn mowers are one of several appliances that live up to their names. Not only do they provide a quick and easy way to trim grass, giving one extra time to focus on other tasks. But they also come in many variations to meet different needs.

This man was dressed up nicely for a morning of mowing. But the picture was captured with another man walking behind him, providing the illusion that the latter was riding on the back of the mower.

Nice Mullet

Chris Hipkins is the minister of education of New Zealand. He also majored in politics and criminology at the Victoria University of Wellington. It was there that he developed his intention to work in government.

With those helpful details, does he seem like the kind of person who’d appear on national television with a mullet? Never in a million years! But it does look that way, thanks to the female colleague who stood behind him as this footage was recorded.

Wait, What?!

There’s no easy way to explain this one. Yes, the man is sitting on a cliff, but the lopsided view of the road beneath him and the mountains in the corner is enough to give anyone a headache.

Rather than succumb to the migraine-inducing photo, how about pondering what brought the man to this location in the first place? He’s suited up, and that hints at a corporate job. Maybe he was suddenly laid off and needed some time to himself.

In My Winter Clothes

Capybaras are a class of animals that have more to their name than being the biggest rodents on planet earth. Their bodies have properly adapted to life on the ground and the sea. So that explains why these pair appear very comfortable in the water.

The one at the front looks like it’s wearing winter clothes. If it were human, we’d be worried that the clothes would make swimming a chore. Luckily, capybaras are strong swimmers. So all’s good here.

A One-and-a-half Seater

Not everyone has to be a car owner. There are many other transportation options available, and for many, motorcycles are where their priorities lie. There are some benefits to such a decision, though. First, motorbikes are generally more affordable than the average four-wheeler.

They’re also more fuel-efficient, making them a good option for anyone worried about carbon footprint. But when it’s time to take photos with the said motorcycle, be sure to keep your legs on the ground, unlike the man in this photo.

Best Thing Since Sliced Bread

Historians presume that the phrase ‘best thing since sliced bread’ originated in the ’30s when the first pre-sliced loaf was introduced by the Continental Baking Company. To add to is appeal, they named it “Wonder Bread.”

Eventually the phrase was used to describe new creations that impact our lives positively. This may not be the Wonder Bread, but it’s a wondrous sight. Imagine how big the oven had to be to hold dough this size. The baker did a great job!

Upside Down World

Never have we seen a more confusing staircase. Even the kitty cat looks like it’s too tired to figure things out. It’s probably going to settle there until its owner comes to the rescue, leaving us to unravel the mystery.

If we didn’t know better, we’d say this was a scene out of “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” by Lewis Carroll or any of its numerous film adaptations. But if that were to be so, wouldn’t the kitty be a Cheshire cat?

The Classiest Muppet

There are puppets, and there are muppets. The latter are an ensemble cast of puppet characters and the subjects of Jim Henson’s sketch comedy show which was originally released in 1976. And from “The Muppet Show” to “Sesame Street,” we’ve got more than enough muppets running the show.

Notice how this woman’s messy hair, sunglasses, and headband look exactly like a muppet’s head? Sadly this illusion of a classy puppet is ruined because the lower half of her face is visible.

They’re Coming

The verdict is still out on whether or not aliens exist. Not aliens in the sense of strangers from other countries but terrestrial beings. Over the years, many have tried to prove or debunk the many supposed sightings of alien crafts.

This photo taken in the city of Shreveport, Louisana, reveals what looks like UFOs hovering in the sky. But we being the detectives that we are, discovered that it’s the ceiling lights of an apartment reflected onto the glass.

Great Skills

Anyone who knows about feline flexibility, their balancing tail act, and their highly attuned sense of smell may find nothing strange about this photo. After all, cats are highly complex animals with boundless talents.

But it’s one thing to be very quick on the feet and possess a far-sighted focus and another to have beef with an iron pole on a fence. And from the look on this kitty’s face, it has no intention of letting go until it wins the fight.

The Biggest of Them All

Basketball is a sport that prioritizes jumping skills, the ability to defend the space and shoot or dunk over shorter players. This means that taller people have a better advantage in every area of the game.

We could say that this woman appears larger than life because of the positioning of the camera. But if she were truly as tall as she looks, she’d be a shoo-in for the ” tallest female basketball player.” Just like Polish pro basketballplayer, Małgorzata Dydek.

A Sad Way to Go

Gymnastics is no joke, and it’s always interesting to see individuals who devote many years of their lives to honing their skills to perform at various events. In fact, photos like this highlight the lengths those professional athletes would go to bring the house down during their performances.

In this case, a perfectly placed chest emblem and a perfect leap into the air contributed to this image of a supposed headless gymnast. But not to worry, no losses were recorded that night!

Counting Two or Three?

“Snapping one, two, where are you?” is a lyric from Rosa Lynn’s 2022 song, “Snap.” And the counting portion is very relevant to this photo, where the woman in sunglasses attempts to hold up a peace sign for a selfie but ends up with an extra third finger.

Just kidding. We know that’s not a finger. But isn’t it funny how the woman in the background happened to be in the right place to sell the illusion of a third finger?

Welcome to the Future

Sci-fi movies like the “Back to the Future” franchise hinted at what a future with advanced technology would look like. And one constant in such productions is the presence of flying cars. Sadly, our present-day inventors have not achieved that feat yet.

We’ve got our hybrid and electronic vehicles. And we’ve got the “Tesla” and its cohorts fighting for supremacy. But never before have we encountered an automobile that hovers over the ground like the one in this parking lot.

A Missing Pair

Not all horror movies begin with spine-chilling visuals. Some start off with a group of girls sitting on a sofa with wide smiles on their faces. They are all wearing jeans in different shades and dark jackets.

It looks like a wholesome scene. Like former cheerleaders meeting up at a bar to reminisce fondly about past college days and the fun they had. But things begin to go wrong when you notice that a pair of legs appear are missing!

No Foot?

Socks can make or break an outfit. Like every other clothing accessory, there’s an option to suit every aesthetic under the sun. Some people like to play it safe by opting for mostly dark grays, blacks, and maybe the odd brown on a dreary day.

Then we’ve got the cheerful lot who go for vibrant shades with multicolored polka dots and stripes–anything to liven up an outfit. Then there are people like this man who choose socks to match the floor.
