Dolly Parton has enjoyed a career spanning over fifty decades, and she must have probably written songs of almost all kinds. One track that made noise was the 1973 song “Jolene,” which got people developing various theories about its story.
In 2008, Parton shared with NPR that she got the song’s name from a beautiful little girl lining up for her autograph. On the other note, she also drew further inspiration from her life story, recalling when a red-haired bank teller was getting close to her husband, Carl Dean.
