Welcoming Prince George
On July 22, 2013, Kate and Prince William welcomed their first son, Prince George Alexander Louis. Named after Queen Elizabeth’s father and grandfather, the boy is expected to reign as King George VII by the end of the 21st century.
The country celebrated his arrival with gun salutes at the Tower of London and Green Park while the bells at Westminster Abbey rang for three hours. The parents introduced their baby during a photocall outside St. Mary’s Hospital before heading to the Middleton family home. Kate had fulfilled her so-called royal duty by providing a male heir to the throne.
