The Duchess’ Challenging First Pregnancy
On December 3, 2012, St James’s Palace announced that Kate and Prince William were expecting their first child. The delight was universal, but the announcement came early for a reason. She was suffering from hyperemesis gravidarum, a severe pregnancy sickness that required hospitalization.
Three days after the announcement, the press spotted the royal couple leaving the hospital following Kate’s treatment. The severe sickness continued to affect Kate until her final trimester.
