These Celebrities Fell Off the Radar but They’re Still Breathing and Bingeing
Elisabeth Waldo – Born in 1918
Who helped pioneer the “exotica” genre by combining classical violin with pre-Columbian instruments? Elisabeth Waldo did just that. She toured Latin America, collaborated with Agustín Lara, and appeared in the 1945 film “Song of Mexico.” Her albums “Maracatu” and “Rites of the Pagan” introduced ancient instruments into modern recording studios.
Later, Elisabeth composed for the LDS pageant “People of the Book” and performed her “Concierto Indo-Americano” with the Xian Symphony Orchestra in China. The semi-supercentenarian’s innovative fusion of ancient and contemporary styles has left a lasting legacy in music.
