Something Was Down There
Each step brought them closer to a rising noise. The trail ended at an old well, its stones worn and split with age. The sounds came from inside. Hana leaned over the edge, but the darkness hid whatever was below.
Still, it was clear something was trapped. The bear stood nearby, quiet and focused, like it was waiting for them to do the right thing. Peter pulled a rope from his pack, saying it could hold his weight. Hana watched him work, her stomach tight. They had no clue what waited down there.
