Before Netflix & YouTube: The Child Stars Who Lit Up The Screens Of Yesteryear

Peter Ostrum

Unlike many child actors, Peter Ostrum’s brush with fame was brief but memorable. Drafted at the age of 12 in 1971, he landed the iconic role of Charlie Bucket in “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.”

The film, though not a huge hit initially, gained a cult following over the years. Peter, however, opted out of a Hollywood career, choosing to pursue his passion for animals. He became a veterinarian, a path inspired by a childhood encounter with a vet.
