Who said tongue twisters are the only phrases bound to leave you confused? There are other English words that will leave you wondering where the difference lies. Did you know that “flammable” and “inflammable” mean the same thing?
That’s right, inflammare is Latin for “to cause to catch fire,” while flammare is Latin for “to catch fire.” So, flammable materials can be set on fire, but inflammable materials can catch fire without necessarily igniting them. At least you know the difference.
