Have you ever heard of the birthday effect? According to statistics, it’s when your chances of dying increase on or near your birthday. The odd occurrence, also called “birthday blues,” is not associated with how one conducts their party.
Even if there is no recklessness in partying, studies suggest that men and women have a 14% chance of dying on their birthday more than on any other day. The trend is worse for people 60 years and older at 18%.
