We’re Out of Vodka
For most of the world, May 9, 1945, was a typical day; for others, it was a victory day; and for Russia, it was a big party day. The Hitler-led German soldiers had just surrendered, and with it went depression, the grips of World War II, and hopelessness.
Russians took to celebrating like people on a vengeance mission; the state ran out of vodka, the exact product their national budget hinged upon. The country-wide celebrations quickly degenerated into a nationwide hangover.
