From Modest to Flashy: A Quick Look at the Houses of Some of America’s Most Famous People
Katharine Hepburn – Connecticut ($11.5 Million)
Katharine Hepburn was an iconic star with an acting career spanning over six decades. Best known for playing strong-willed and sophisticated characters, it’s interesting that Hepburn’s on-screen persona directly reflects her real personality. Before her death in 2006, she made her home in the Fenwick estate previously owned by her parents.
Unfortunately, the original house was destroyed in a 1938 hurricane. However, Hepburn redesigned the home with an eye for comfort and durability, and its sloping roofs and nautical-inspired exterior simply add to the home’s glamour. In 2021 the Reading Public Museum hosted an exhibition spotlighting the outfits that shaped Hepburn’s image over five decades of her career.
