During WWII, the United States military devised a plan to destroy Japan with bats rather than atomic bombs. According to sources, a dentist proposed the idea. Eleanor Roosevelt, the first lady, thought the concept was rational.
The plan was to send out bats equipped with timer-equipped explosives. They would perch on wooden structures until the timers went off at the exact moment, resulting in a tremendous fire. However, in the end, it was not carried out since the bats were not combat-ready.
