Harm Is Lurking In Objects And Creatures You Thought Were Innocent
This Cat Doesn’t ‘Meow’ At All, But Swims
A 2009 study revealed that a minimum of 1,250 types of catfish possess venomous properties. The primary purpose of this toxin is self-defense. While certain North American catfish can cause noticeable stings in humans, there are a few species in other parts of the world that have the potential to be fatal to people.
Catfish venom glands are located near the spines on the side of their pectoral and dorsal fins. When threatened, these spines can be locked, and anything struck by one of these would feel the creature’s wrath.
