Are You Guilty of These Common Food Storage Mistakes?
Basil Care Secrets
Basil, a fragrant herb used in many dishes, doesn’t fare well in the refrigerator. The cold causes the leaves to turn black and wilt quickly. The best way to store basil is to treat it like fresh flowers: trim the stems and place them in a glass of water, covering the leaves with a plastic bag at room temperature.
This keeps basil vibrant and fresh. Other herbs like parsley, cilantro, and thyme can be stored in the fridge, wrapped in a damp paper towel, and placed in a plastic bag.
