According to the actor, he was in contention for a role until Robert De Niro intervened, resulting in his exclusion. However, producers denied his claims, saying he was never considered for a part.

Mickey claims his issues with Robert began in 1987 while working on “Angel Heart.” He had idolized the Oscar winner, but the latter said they shouldn’t talk because of their characters in the film.
