The Doors Of Chicago’s C.D. Peacock Jewelry Store In 1925

In 1925, Louis Tiffany designed this construction specifically for the C.D. Peacock jewelry business in Chicago, Illinois. The enormous metal-worked doors, which have a design that looks like feathers and were originally built for the shop, were relocated to the Palmer House Hilton Hotel when it closed in 1993.

One of only three “Peacock Doors” in existence, this internationally recognized door is truly a work of peculiar real estate art. As a tribute to Chicago’s famous “House of Peacock” emporium, which was established in 1837 by Elijah Peacock and was the city’s first incorporated company, the design incorporates a magnificent and mysterious bird.
