The Sign Must Be Wrong

English is a funny language because a word can mean different things. This may even can cause unusual misunderstandings. Take this sign, for example. It says “No outlet” to indicate that there’s only one way in and out of the street.

The sign is there to warn motorists to make a U-turn to get out of the neighborhood. However, a mischievous passerby interpreted the word outlet differently and attached a sticker of a wall outlet to the sign.
