Brazil’s Christ The Redeemer Statue Is a Historical Landmark Since 1931
Perched atop the Corcovado mountain, overlooking the vibrant city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, stands one of the world’s most renowned symbols of faith and beauty, the Christ the Redeemer statue.
Construction of the statue commenced in 1922 and lasted for nearly a decade. Once completed, the Christ the Redeemer statue was officially inaugurated on October 12, 1931. In 2007, the statue was designated as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.
